Mardi Gras

King Cakes

King Cakes are oval in shape to show unity. They are decorated in traditional Mardi gras colors: Green representing Faith; Gold representing Power; Purple representing Justice. On top of the cake is a plastic figurine which represents the baby Jesus.

New Orleans tradition has evolved to obligate the person who "finds the baby" to host the next seasonal party, as well as crown the person "King" for the day.

Start this local tradition today in your home, class, or office. King Cake season ends on Fat Tuesday, the day before Lent.

Decorations may vary slightly.
